Q: I'm a beginner in Perl and I know completely nothing about it. Can DzSoft Perl Editor help me?
A: Yes of course. You may find links to some very helpful tutorials and script collections here. The Syntax Check feature is also very helpful for learning Perl.

Q: Where can I get free ready-made Perl CGI scripts?
A: For example, on The CGI Resource Index.

Q: Can I use DzSoft Perl Editor to make CGI scripts for Unix (Mac, etc.)?
A: Yes. DzSoft Perl Editor is a universal Perl development tool, you can run scripts you created with DzSoft Perl Editor on all platforms where Perl is installed (you may need to choose the line endings format using File ⇒ Line Endings Format menu). To get Perl for different platforms, please see Perl Homepage.

DzSoft Perl Editor Questions

Q: How do I find closing brackets in DzSoft Perl Editor?
A: To find a corresponding closing bracket, please put the cursor before or after an opening bracket, and press Shift+Ctrl+Up.

Q: Do I need to have Apache or another web server installed to use DzSoft Perl Editor?
A: No. DzSoft Perl Editor works directly with Perl.

Q: Can I use another Perl distributive with DzSoft Perl Editor (instead of ActivePerl)?
A: Yes. Please do not forget to set path to Perl.exe on the Path to Perl tab of the Options dialog (View ⇒ Options menu). The path to Perl must not contain spaces.

Troubleshooting

Q: I upgraded my operating system to a newer version of Windows and now I can't run my DzSoft Perl Editor that was installed before the upgrade.
A: Please reinstall DzSoft Perl Editor.
